So here we are. Gio and I are engaged to be married. She’s still in Indonesia, and I’m here in the United States. What’s the plan, you ask?

We wrestled with the decision of the location of our wedding for weeks. After doing research, talking with advisors, and much prayer – we came to the conclusion that we would have our wedding in the United States.
We had hoped initially to have the wedding in Indonesia, but a variety of factors contributed to us changing that decision. First of all, if we married there my parents would be unable to attend due to my father’s ongoing battle and recovery from cancer. Gio expressed it would hurt her heart if either of our parents could not be present. Thankfully, both of her parents are in good health and agreed to flying to the United States. Secondly, the legal ramifications of Gio’s immigration to the USA were simpler and had fewer potential complications if we decided to marry here.

Having made this decision, we recently submitted Form I-129F, a petition for the K1 Fiancée Visa. The United States Citizenship and Immigration Services will review our petition, and if they approve, it will be sent to the National Visa Center for final consideration. Once acquired, the K1 visa will allow Gio to come to the United States. Once she arrives here, we will need to be married within 90 days for the visa to remain valid. After we are legally married, we will begin the process of acquiring her Permanent Resident Card (green card).
Below, I have assembled some common questions many of you have been asking. If you have any other questions, feel free to reach out to me!
Q: Where will you have the wedding?
A: We will be married in Wellsboro, PA.
Q: When is your wedding?
A: It depends. We’re hoping for sometime in April of 2025. But it hinges upon the visa approval process for Gio. Some sources say it could take 6-10 months, other more recent sources suggest 2-4 months. So we will see!
Q: Where will you both live after the wedding?
A: We will live in the United States, at least unless God directs us elsewhere someday in the future.
Q: Is there anything I can do to help?
A: You all are so kind to think of us. If you’d like to know how to help, please visit the Partner With Us page for more details.
